Career Path: Software Engineering Full-Time
Before Coding Temple: Unemployed
Before Coding Temple: Data Engineer @ Cars.com
Do your due diligence. The course is easy, with the unspoken expectation of the students continuing their learning after hours and after completion of the program. The main thing to learn at the Bootcamp is to learn how to think like a coder, logic based problem solving. The rest can be found on YouTube, stack overflow, or in documentation so there’s no point in memorizing things.
I think I had unrealistic expectations due to a holistic lack of industry knowledge, but in hindsight I think CT has a very well rounded curriculum. It covers a spectrum of carrer pathways in breadth, allowing the student to choose what’s best for them. I was surprised by how digestible the material was, everything was covered in such simple steps that made it easy to understand and it’s hard to realize at the time, but all you need to succeed is a basic understanding and the ability to learn new tools quickly, with that you can accomplish anything.
Went from doing nothing to being an engineer,. It was by no means an easy road, but a very rewarding one nonetheless. I’m currently pursuing a degree in CS and hope to go down the route of being a technical project owner/manager. I don’t expect it to be easy, but it’s not fun if it’s easy.
I did not do my due diligence during the job search part of CT, however the skills I learned got my foot in a door or two and a need to succeed got me the rest of the way. I don’t think CT makes you a developer, engineer, or an analyst, but it gives you the training to start thinking like one and the rest is on the individual to continue down the path.
The instructor. He understood the material well, did not shy away from saying “I don’t know” and showing us the steps he took to find a solution. Hands on teaching was also very beneficial, you do not learn to code from reading code or watching someone code, you learn by coding.
How to research effectively/how to ask the right questions.
Thinking I could learn everything, decided to focus on what I liked and worked to get better at that.
Good reviews, length, and materials covered.
Needed to stop doing nothing
Nothing ?
