I wanted to change careers, and move out of healthcare quickly. Bootcamps provided the foundation for learning new technologies without the price tag/time investment of a 4 year degree. Also, a computer science degree is more focused on theoretical rather than learning new languages and tools.
Coding Temple had great reviews, small cohort, a lot more affordable than other bootcamps but more importantly alumni support.
The most challenging part of the program were the projects. Getting things started and set up were very challenging. Learning new frameworks which sometimes goes against what you learn or does things differently from what you learn. Going to TA sessions or 1 on 1 meetings were very helpful.
I learned what it takes to get a job or what companies are looking for.
My cohort, TAs, and the help 1 on 1 sessions
I wanted to land a role in backend engineer, so I took sometime to learn the fundamentals and create new projects. It was a grueling process but it got easier over time as I start fixing my resume, making better projects, and going to more interviews.
Currently still in my first job, and hope to go into big tech soon as a midlevel. And eventually, end up in distributed systems
Coding temple gave me the tools to succeed and continually provided support through resources after graduation which I greatly appreciated. Hearing how other people got their jobs and what they did to boost their chances were really helpful. That was surprising to me, I still check in the slack channels for whos hiring.
Coding Temple give you the tools and sets the expectations for what you need to do to get a job. Everyone starts at different path so it can feel demotivating when you see others land a job more quickly than others, but overall it is dependent on the effort you put in.
