What were you doing before you decided to attend Coding Temple?
I was a logistics coordinator.
What motivated you to enroll in a tech bootcamp?
I was tired of feeling unfulfilled. Management was horrible, and I was very unhappy with how I was being treated.
Why did you ultimately decide to enroll at Coding Temple?
My best friend Laura Rivera recommended Coding Temple and pushed me to take a chance.
What was the most challenging part of the program for you and how did you overcome it?
Honestly, all of it. But I worked night and day. My friend helped me with resources and I kept trying and learning until I was able to understand it.
What was the most valuable lesson or skill you learned during the program?
The most valuable lesson I appreciate is how hard they made the program. They pushed us so much and once I was in the real world, it was easy. I was prepared.
What resources did you find most helpful during the program?
All of it. The community, slack, my cohort, the resources, Marlene, Nicole and Sam.
What was the job search process like and how did Coding Temple prepare you for your current job?
The job process was very hard on me. It applied for 6 months and nothing. It took a toll on my mental health but one day 2 offers were given to me. Marlene helped me a lot encouraging me weekly that it will happen and I believed her. And it happened.
How has your career progressed since graduating from Coding Temple, and what are your future career goals?
I am currently in charge of my team, I am product owner, PMP and business intelligence analyst. I’m starting my master program Harvard University and my job is paying for it. My job has legit given me so much freedom and encouragement to be great. And I’m so grateful.
How did Coding Temple compare to your expectations, and what surprised you the most about the experience?
I knew going in how hard it was going to be cause I spoke to Laura daily about it. She kept telling me always show up. Just show up. It’s worth it. And it’s been so worth it cause it’s helped me get to where I am now.
What advice do you have for current or prospective bootcamp students in terms of preparing for and succeeding at Coding Temple?
Keep showing up. Don’t understand the materials, ask for help. Never be afraid to ask for help. Keep practicing. Keep putting in the work. It will be worth it as long as you don’t give up. Do it for yourself.
