Freelance and temp work.
What motivated you to enroll in a tech bootcamp?
Tech boot camps have a reputation for getting non traditional talent into the workforce. I wanted to take getting a tech job seriously.
Why did you ultimately decide to enroll at Coding Temple?
The program was the best deal I found. Specifically due to the WIOA funding.
What was the most challenging part of the program for you and how did you overcome it?
The challenging part was applying the concepts in the capstone project. I overcame it by steadily working at it and asking for help.
What was the most valuable lesson or skill you learned during the program?
I learned how to research answers and teach myself new technologies and concepts. That’s an important part of my job to this today.
What resources did you find most helpful during the program?
The instructors were the biggest resource. Nothing beats a personable, hands on approach.
What was the job search process like and how did Coding Temple prepare you for your current job?
While I did most of my job searching on my own, when it came time to negotiate Marlene gave me insights that really brought me more value.
How has your career progressed since graduating from Coding Temple, and what are your future career goals?
I’m doing better than I expected to and working in a position that’s perfect for me. My next goal is to become a senior software engineer.
How did Coding Temple compare to your expectations, and what surprised you the most about the experience?
I expected the program to be rigorous and it was. I think that the most surprising part of the experience was the relationships that I developed with my teachers and classmates. They really are all a great launching pad for my tech network.
What advice do you have for current or prospective bootcamp students in terms of preparing for and succeeding at Coding Temple?
Finishing the pre work is the best thing you can do to prep for the class. If you can’t finish the pre work before starting the class you should reconsider registering because the daily work is harder to do than the pre work.
