What were you doing before you decided to attend Coding Temple?
Forensic Science
What motivated you to enroll in a tech bootcamp?
I realized Forensic Science was not providing the lifestyle I wanted for myself and my family. I knew a tech career could provide that.
Why did you ultimately decide to enroll at Coding Temple?
The 97% placement rate and the tech stack that coding temple teaches was one of the most popular used in jobs.
What was the most challenging part of the program for you and how did you overcome it?
The most challenging part of the program was making peace with feeling of constantly being overwhelmed. I overcame it by taking breaks and tenacity of not giving up.
What was the most valuable lesson or skill you learned during the program?
The process of learning a new technology is always the same no matter how foreign it may feel.
What resources did you find most helpful during the program?
My professors and the recorded lectures. Sometimes I had to rewatch lectures multiple times to truly understand. If I still didn’t understand they were always able to answer my questions.
What was the job search process like and how did Coding Temple prepare you for your current job?
The job search process was gruling. I applied to 10-15 jobs a day and after over 200 jobs I got a job on a referral for a position I didn’t even apply for. Of the 200 I applied maybe 5 turned into interviews.
How has your career progressed since graduating from Coding Temple, and what are your future career goals?
I am currently a junior software developer. My future goals is to be a project manager.
How did Coding Temple compare to your expectations, and what surprised you the most about the experience?
Coding temple exceeded my expectations in two ways. One was the technical skills they teach are extremely relevant to the job. I seem to know how to physically code more than other junior developers who have CS degrees. Two, the alumni support is a well oiled machine that really does get you hired if you follow the plan.
What advice do you have for current or prospective bootcamp students in terms of preparing for and succeeding at Coding Temple?
You’re the only one who can get in your way. To be successful in the program and in your career you have to really want it by showing it in your work ethic. If you don’t give it your all then the results you are looking for won’t follow.
