What were you doing before you decided to attend Coding Temple?

Assistant Aquatics Director

What motivated you to enroll in a tech bootcamp?

During the pandemic I was furloughed and wanted to find ways to invest in myself during an unpredictable time.

Why did you ultimately decide to enroll at Coding Temple?

After learning on my own for about a year, I knew I needed to commit full time or else I was never going to make the career change I wanted. Coding temple offered the most amount of skills in the short period of time that I needed.

What was the most challenging part of the program for you and how did you overcome it?

Balancing between, learning something completely new, changing careers, and having self doubt all the time was the hardest part. The only way getting through it was reminding myself that my success was all on me and the only way to get there was putting everything I had into it.

What was the most valuable lesson or skill you learned during the program?

We are constantly growing and learning as humans. Commitment and dedication takes you a long way.

What resources did you find most helpful during the program?

Marlene, my career coach was definitely very helpful, the alumi job search meet ups, and my instructors, and the community within CT.

What was the job search process like and how did Coding Temple prepare you for your current job?

Job hunting as a new developer was one of the hardest challenges I’ve had to face. However, keeping an open mindset helped me a lot during the process. CT helped me mentally prepare for job interviews that can be very intimidating.

How has your career progressed since graduating from Coding Temple, and what are your future career goals?

After graduation, I was able to find a contract role as a Development Quality Assurance Engineer through a staffing agency. Which led me to gain some experience and eventually land a full time role as a Software Quality Engineer 9 months later.

How did Coding Temple compare to your expectations, and what surprised you the most about the experience?

Coding temple was exactly what I knew it would be based on the information they provided. The experience was humbling and exciting all the same time and I would not have changed it for the world!

What advice do you have for current or prospective bootcamp students in terms of preparing for and succeeding at Coding Temple?

You are going to work extremely hard, have self doubt all the time, and even cry a little every single night. But all of it will be worth it when you land your first job in the tech world!
